The Mini Split Company was built to solve a problem most HVAC companies ignore — homes that don’t fit traditional systems. From older houses to room additions, garages, and home offices, homeowners are usually left with inefficient or overpriced options.
We focus exclusively on ductless mini split systems because they offer a smarter, more efficient way to control comfort. Our process, training, and installations are built around ductless — so every job gets specialist sizing, clean line sets, and factory-spec commissioning.

We come by it honestly. The Mini Split Company is the ductless-focused sister company of AC American Air — the Pozos family’s San Antonio HVAC business since 2011 — so the same family expertise stands behind every install.

The Mini Split Company was built to solve a problem most HVAC companies ignore — homes that don’t fit traditional systems. From older houses to room additions, garages, and home offices, homeowners are usually left with inefficient or overpriced options. We chose to focus exclusively on ductless because it’s the right answer.
The room that never stays comfortable.
A bedroom over the garage. The sunroom. The home office. Spaces traditional central HVAC can never quite balance against the rest of the house. A single-zone ductless system solves it in an afternoon — and only runs when that room actually needs it.
The space without ductwork.
Older homes, additions, ADUs, garage conversions, offices above the garage. Running new ducts is invasive and expensive — you're cutting into walls, ceilings, and closets. A multi-zone ductless system delivers the same room-by-room comfort without touching the structure.
The efficiency you can't see leaving.
Even when ductwork exists, it leaks. Industry estimates put duct losses at 20–30%. Ductless has no ducts to lose conditioned air through, and the variable-speed inverters modulate continuously instead of cycling on and off. Lower bills, quieter home, fewer parts that can break.

How it works
A mini split doesn’t make cold — it moves heat
One small refrigerant loop does everything — flip the switch below and watch the same system cool in August and heat in January.

Cooling: heat moves OUT of your room
1 · The indoor head absorbs heat
Room air blows across a cold coil; refrigerant inside absorbs the heat (and wrings out humidity — half the job in San Antonio).
2 · Refrigerant carries it outside
The warmed refrigerant travels through the small insulated line set — the only 'duct' a mini split needs.
3 · The outdoor unit rejects it
The compressor concentrates the heat and the outdoor coil dumps it to the outside air. The cooled refrigerant loops back in.

Replacing window units
CPS Energy rebates
San Antonio's utility pays $90–$310 per cooling ton for qualifying high-efficiency mini-split heat pumps (verified July 2026 — amount depends on SEER2 tier and replacement type). We verify your exact rebate before you sign anything.
Federal 25C tax credit — ended
The federal heat-pump tax credit ended for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025. Installed in 2025? You can still claim it on your 2025 return — we'll provide the documentation.
Texas HEAR rebates (not live yet)
Texas's federally funded Home Energy Rebates (HEAR) aren't live — the state is targeting a fall 2026 launch, pending federal approval, and no amounts are official. Join the list below and we'll tell you the moment they open.
