Why we built a ductless-only company in San Antonio
The Mini Split Company exists because San Antonio homeowners kept getting HVAC that doesn't fit their homes. Founder Manny Pozos set out to fix that — with a ductless-only company.
The founding story
It started with a problem Manny kept seeing
Before there was a company, there was a pattern. Manuel “Manny” Pozos — a ductless specialist — kept walking into San Antonio homes stuck with HVAC that simply didn’t fit them. Older houses built before central air was standard, with no ductwork to speak of. Garage conversions that never got comfortable. Additions tacked onto homes where extending the existing system was never going to work. And the most common one of all: a single room — over the garage, the sunroom, the upstairs bedroom — that was always too hot or too cold.
These weren’t problems traditional central HVAC could solve. But they were exactly what a ductless mini split was designed for.
Why a specialist, not a generalist
Manny watched general HVAC companies treat mini splits as an afterthought — a side offering bolted onto a furnace-and-coil business. He saw the results over and over: oversized systems, sloppy line sets, and technicians who had never been to a single ductless training course. A great piece of equipment installed by someone learning on the job performs worse than a modest one installed right.
San Antonio homeowners deserved a specialist — someone who knew these systems inside and out, sized them correctly, and installed them to factory spec every time. That conviction is why we install ductless and nothing else.
A family that’s done this for years
Manny didn’t come to this cold. He grew up in the trade through the family’s San Antonio HVAC company, AC American Air — founded by Victor Pozos in 2011 and still serving the metro today. That’s where the standard came from: show up on time, fix it right, charge a fair price, and treat every home like your own.
The Mini Split Company is the family’s ductless-focused sister company — the same family, the same hands-on standard, narrowed to the one system most San Antonio homes are missing. The work is performed under the family’s Texas contractor license, TDLR #TACLA36546E.
One trade, done right
So in 2025, Manny started The Mini Split Company with a deliberately narrow promise: do one thing, do it right, and treat every home like your own. We built the entire business — the training, the tools, the sizing process, the installation method — around ductless mini splits. The result is a cleaner install, a system that lasts longer, and a warranty that stays intact.
Today that focus shows in the work: we’re licensed and insured in Texas and we install and service Carrier, Daikin, and Mitsubishi Electric.

He stays hands-on with sizing and installs, because the details are the difference between a system that runs and one that runs right for fifteen years.
